A Vice Championship Effort in VP Racing SportsCar Challenge to Highlight CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Season

Braselton, Georgia (October 5, 2026) - The full three-car lineup of CarBahn with Peregrine Racing team took on the final event of the 2026 Season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend, competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.

The No. 37 and No. 39 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVOs kicked off the weekend with two practice sessions, and headed into Thursday afternoon’s Qualifying session prepared to show their speed around the 12-turn road course. Stephen Wetterau and Sean McAlister handled the 15-minute qualifying session for the No. 37 and No. 39 teams. Unfortunately, a red flag in the last five-minutes limited their ability to put in a fast lap seeing the No. 37 start from 22nd and the No. 39 start 16th in the pack of GS competitors.

The Fox Factory 120 Race kicked off Friday afternoon with a clean start throughout the field enabling Wetterau and McAlister to make moves forward in the opening laps. Both drivers worked their way past competitors lap after lap, gaining multiple positions across their fully green flag stints. As they reached the 45-minute mark, Wetterau brought the No. 37 BMW machinery into pit lane for a driver change to Cameron Shields with McAlister following suit just minutes later to hand the reins of the No. 39 over to Jeff Westphal.

Shields and Westphal took to the field following a smooth driver change with a fresh set of tires and a full tank of fuel. As they prepared to continue the hunt to the front, an on-track incident saw a full course yellow bringing many of the competitors into pit lane which propelled Shields and Westphal forward as the field returned to green-flag racing.

As they reached the halfway mark, the two drivers continued to pass their competitors with the heat of the day favoring the mechanics of their BMWs. With 45-minutes remaining, both drivers made their way to pit lane for a final top off on fuel that would carry them through to the end of the race.

Returning to the field for their final stint, Shields and Westphal worked their way through TCR class traffic as they both made their way into the top 10 of the GS class. Westphal ran as high as sixth before a gearbox temperature issue caused the car to lose power, sending him back in the final 10 minutes. As the drivers went into the final minutes of racing, Westphal became an innocent victim of a collision with two TCRs resulting in race-ending damage. With the field seeing a full course yellow taking them to the checkered flag, Shields ultimately took the No. 37 home in fifth position, marking the No. 37 team's best result of the season.

In the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, Courtney Crone returned behind the wheel of the No. 35 BMW M4 GT4 EVO for the final race of the season. A smooth qualifying session saw Crone starting from second in the pack of GSX competitors for the doubleheader finale. In Race 1, Crone carefully maintained her position throughout a race that saw mostly green-flag running and ultimately finished where she started securing second on the podium. Race 2, saw similar conditions as Crone navigated her way around Road Atlanta. She skillfully held her second place start to bring the No. 35 BMW machinery home in second for another podium finish. With her double-podium effort this weekend, Crone was also named Vice Champion for the GSX class of the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge for 2026.

As the 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season comes to a close, the team’s season is highlighted by Courtney Crone’s Vice Championship effort with seven podium finishes throughout the season, as well as two podium results in the Michelin Pilot Challenge with the No. 39 team.

What They're Saying: CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Quotes
Jeff Westphal, co-driver, No. 39 BMW M4 GT4 EVO:
“Really tough day for the 39 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing BMW M4. The strategy was good and the pace was good until we were nursing a gearbox temperature alarm. The car was pulling power quite often, so I was struggling in traffic because I was losing more power that we already didn't have. Somehow we were still managing to hang on, and then in the closing minutes two TCRs tangled, spun one of them across the front and collected my left front tire when he spun.A tough way to end the season after what seemed to be a solid weekend effort.”

Sean McAlister, co-driver, No. 39 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “Overall, the car was really good. I felt like we did a good job in the first stint and Jeff was doing a good job until the overheating issues kind of limited our movement forward. It’s a bummer to have another crash, but there's really nowhere Jeff could have gone during that incident. It's unfortunate, but love the crew, love everybody here. None of their faults. It just is what it is.
We got two podiums this year. I think we had a car that could get first a couple of times, but we were just on the back end of the stick for the first half of the year. Thank you to the whole team for their hard work this season.”

Stephen Wetterau, co-driver, No. 37 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “What a way to end 2026 here at Atlanta with a top-five finish. Great momentum into next year. We’ve got great partners in TPC on board, and we can't wait to get some work in during the off season to make next year even better. A huge thank you to Cam and the team for an amazing first full season in IMSA, and I can’t wait to get going in 2027.”

Cameron Shields, co-driver, No. 37 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “It was an absolutely crazy race for us starting from 22nd. Steve did a fantastic job in the opening stint to make up a lot of positions, which really helped out in the closing stint. It was just total mayhem. The TCR drivers were all over the track with no respect for each other, and unfortunately, it hurt our sister car as well. So it's disappointing for them, but our best result for the season. So we're really happy. Going into next season and going into next year, we're really excited. We're looking forward to continuing our relationship with CarBahn, Steve Dinan, and the whole crew at Peregrine Racing. It’s been fantastic working with them all this year. The team's pushed through the challenges, some out of our control, and we’re looking forward to building on all our progress from this year.
