CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Teams Rally Together for Top-10 Finish at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
Bowmanville, Ontario (July 21, 2026) - The CarBahn with Peregrine Racing teams took on their only international event of the season with their return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the next round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. Just last year, the No. 39 team of Jeff Westphal and Sean McAlister secured their place on the top step of the podium and the pair returned this season looking to replicate that feat.
The IMPC stable of drivers in the No. 37 and No. 39 BMW M4 GT4 EVOs came prepared to tackle the 2.459-mile (3.957-kilometer) road course for their sixth round of competition. The two teams took to the 15-minute qualifying session on Saturday morning ahead of the race that afternoon. A promising practice session the day prior saw them ready to make their way to the front of the starting grid, but a red flag in the middle of their 15-minute session took away valuable time to put in a fast lap resulting in a 27th-place start for the No. 37 and 26th starting position for No.39.
At the drop of the green flag, Stephen Wetterau and Sean McAlister were poised to move forward in their respective No. 37 and No. 39 BMWs. McAlister passed seven of his GS competitors on the start before the field saw a short full course yellow in the opening minutes of the race. On the restart, Wetterau and McAlister managed to gain GS track position as the BMW machinery came to life. The two drivers quickly showed their confidence behind the wheel, continuing to move forward in the field in the first hour of racing. Wetterau got himself up to 13th in class, gaining 11 places in total during his stint before bringing the car into pit lane to hand over driving duties to Cameron Shields under caution. Shields was ready to continue the progression forward as the field saw the green flag, but an unavoidable incident on the restart saw the No. 37 with race-ending damage just shy of the halfway mark.
After a devastating end to the No. 37 team’s day, all focus was on the No. 39 team with McAlister still behind the wheel and continuing to push his way to the front of the field. With just under an hour to go, McAlister came into pit lane from third position for a driver change to Jeff Westphal. Returning to the field in 13th after an issue with the right rear tire during the pit stop, Westphal showed his dominance on track utilizing every opportunity to make passes and gain back positions. The field was able to see the remainder of the race under the green flag enabling Westphal to fight his way forward before coming across the finish line in seventh.
Courtney Crone returned behind the wheel of the No. 35 BMW M4 GT4 machinery for her fourth round of VP Racing Challenge competition, with her qualifying efforts seeing her starting from fourth for the first race of the doubleheader weekend. As she saw the green flag for the first 45-minute race, Crone managed the field behind her with a clean start that saw her maintaining track position. As she put in her laps around the Canadian circuit, Crone was poised to move forward when an extended yellow flag saw her unable to progress forward. With little racing time left, Crone ultimately saw the checkered flag in fourth. For Race 2, Crone started from third in the pack of GSX’s, managing to make her way to second in the opening minutes of racing. Crone continued to put pressure on the class leader lap after lap while skillfully defending from third position. As the field reached the halfway mark, an extended yellow drowned the race clock, but as they took the green flag with 15-minutes to go Crone looked for every opportunity to pass for the lead. Ultimately, Crone took the checkered flag in second place, securing her third podium finish of 2026 and taking home solid points for the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Championship.
The next round for the the four of Michelin Pilot Challenge competitors will be at Road America from July 30 - August 1, 2026, and Courtney Crone will return to competing in the VP Racing Challenge at VIR on August 20 - 23, 2026.

The No. 39 rebounded, and in terms of the shakeup of the race - the yellows, the awkward strategy, and we ultimately came out with seventh. It's not where we wanted to be, but considering where we started, I think it was a decent finish on a chaotic day.”
Sean McAlister, co-driver, No. 39 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “It was a hectic first stint, lots of yellows. I think it would have been a much different race if we had qualified in the top five, but we did as well as we could with what we had. We found some pretty good pace and had a good result. It was kind of tough managing tires while saving fuel, and also managing the restarts. Other than that, it was a great race and Jeff did a great job keeping it clean to take home a seventh-place finish.”
Stephen Wetterau, co-driver, No. 37 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “Quick trip to Canada. This was the best the car has felt the whole season. We had a lot of pace, unfortunately with another car getting into the side of us in qualifying, it set us at the back of the field, but we knew we had the pace to run at the front. This is a very challenging track to pass on, but we were making moves, and driving from 27th to 13th shows the pace we have. Unfortunately, another car got in the side of us during Cam’s stint and took us out. Time to rebuild, and just get to the body shop and then head over to Road America.”
Cameron Shields, co-driver, No. 37 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: “Really disappointing end to our day in Canada. We had fantastic pace the whole time. Steve absolutely crushed it. Driving up to 13th from the back of the field and we had a strong restart, going for an overtake. Unfortunately, we had contact that put us out of the race.”
Courtney Crone, driver, No. 35 BMW M4 GT4 EVO: "A great day in Race 2. I think we maximized the car much better than we did for Race 1. I’m happy with the P2, but to have P1 that close in sight, obviously, it just makes me more hungry for the next weekend at VIR. I’m ready for it.”
