CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Teams Rally Together for Top-10 Finish at Road America
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (August 2, 2026) - The CarBahn with Peregrine Racing duo of BMW M4 GT4 EVOs took on the fan favorite, Road America, this weekend in the Road America 120 for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Last year, Stephen Wetterau and Cameron Shields came to Road America as a single-event entry with Peregrine Racing, which saw the pair secure a second-place finish on their debut.
The No. 37 and No. 39 teams took to qualifying on Friday afternoon with confidence, after running at the front of the pack of GS contenders in both practice sessions at the start of the weekend. Stephen Wetterau and Sean McAlister for the No. 37 and No. 39 teams, respectively, put in solid laps to start the 15-minute session. Unfortunately, in the last five minutes McAlister had an incident that saw the field under a red flag for the remainder of the session, resulting in an 11th-place starting position for the No.37 and a 28th-place start for the No. 39.
As the green flag flew for the 120-minute sprint race, McAlister and Wetterau took to racing in the wet conditions but both teams chose to race on slick tires. Both drivers immediately got to work finding themselves moving up the field on the first lap of racing. They kept things clean throughout their stint finding pace and making moves on the competitors ahead of them. As they neared an hour of racing, a full course yellow saw Wetterau and McAlister bringing their BMW machinery into pit lane to hand off driving duties to Cameron Shields and Jeff Westphal.
Following a clean driver change and full service of fuel and tires, the two drivers took to the track under caution looking to make their way forward when the field went green. Shields found himself in sixth-position and Westphal in 14th-position in less than 20 minutes into their stint before another full course yellow saw them coming immediately into pit lane for fuel and fresh tires. As the field went green with just under 30-minutes to go, both drivers sought out ways to move forward when a competitor made contact with Westphal, resulting in race-ending damage for the No. 39 team.
Shields put his head down and focused forward as the field saw the green flag once again. He made a series of clean passes that saw him running in the top 10 before another yellow flag in the final 10-minutes saw him with no opportunity to progress forward to take the checkered flag under caution putting him in sixth position to close out the day.
All sights are set on the next round of competition at VIRginia International Raceway, where the duo of IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge drivers will be joined by Courtney Crone competing in the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge on August 20-22, 2026.

It was set for P3 and I was trying to get a little extra in the next one and unfortunately dropped the tire and went into the wall. That made us switch chassis and start from the back. So honestly, something I learned is just if you got a good starting position there's no reason to throw it away. On Race Day today the plan was, doesn't matter about the pace, just keep the car clean and hand it over to Jeff so he could keep it clean and come back. Then, unfortunately, we just got spun by a Mustang and put in the wall. So it was definitely a weekend to forget. Looking forward to VIR, hopefully we can get the cars both set up and ready for that.”
